Acle and Reedham Surgeries Update
'Acle Medical Partnership will remain open and available to serve our patients during the current crisis. We have had to change the way we work to adjust to staff being away and the need to protect our patients and staff as best we can. These changes are likely to outlast the current lockdown, as vulnerable patients will remain at risk for many months. We are taking the extraordinary measures outlined in this message in order to maintain the highest standard of infection prevention and control and to manage the demands on our workforce.
For this reason we will be making more changes from Monday 6th April 2020.
For the foreseeable future there will be no patient face-to-face appointments at our Reedham surgery. The surgery will be open for the collection of medications only, using a new outside dispensary hatch, being installed this weekend.
At Acle surgery we are also installing an outside hatch for the collection of medication. A new path has been laid around the front of the surgery which will be marked to allow for the 2 metre distancing for each patient.
If you cannot collect your medication because you are isolating at home or unable to get to the surgery please do not worry, we can deliver for you. We have increased our deliveries so that we can deliver to you. Olly and Tim are working every day.
From now onwards, our preferred means of patient contact will be by telephone or, for those of you with a smartphone or suitable computer, by video consultation. If this is offered, you will receive a text from the doctor with clear instructions on what to do. Acle will remain open for face-to-face appointments but all appointment requests will be reviewed by a doctor or nurse first and kept to a minimum for your safety.
Home visits will be provided when absolutely necessary, by a team of two, to allow the correct use of protective equipment.
From Monday April 6th the front door of Acle Surgery will be open by doorbell request only and no appointments will be made or enquiries permitted from callers who have no booked arrangement, or are not simply making a drop-off, for example a urine sample. If you need an appointment, please visit our website or telephone. Do not come to the surgery to make an appointment or an enquiry as unless you have an immediately life-threatening emergency (for which you should call 999), you will be asked to go home and phone. Everyone entering the building, staff included, will continue to be temperature and symptom checked before being allowed into the building.
We are taking these precautions because in other epidemics, medical staff have become an important source of infection for patients and we are resolved not to allow that to be the case for us.

All staff on the ground floor of the building are now wearing protective work wear. If you are seen in an appointment, our clinical team will be wearing protective clothing – a mask, apron and gloves as a minimum. This measure is in place to protect us all, and you in particular.
We are here to help you. We will start making calls to our vulnerable patients to check you are keeping well. We are working closely with our social services and voluntary sector colleagues to try and assist you with your needs.
